First Method
1) Switch off your phone
2) Press and hold these 3 keys together:
-green dial key
-the star key(*)
-the number 3 key
3) Turn the phone on
Do not release the keys until you see a formatting screen and even after the phone has started. Wait until the initial sound starts to play and the hand animation is displayed.
Backup your contacts list and personal files present in your MMC memory card to your system (if possible).

Second Method

you will be prompted for a Security Code.
This is 12345 by default if you haven't changed it.


Please ensure that you have backed up your data first onto a PC by using pc suite, or onto a memory card.

Soft Reset

The reset will restore all the phone’s settings to factory default.

Hard Reset

Please make backup before applying this type of reset, since it will restore the phone’s settings as well as erasing all the data in the phone memory.

1. Switch off the phone.
2. Press CALL/Send button  + * button + 3 button and then ON simultaneously until the phone is completely started.

note: The default password is 12345. You need to press and hold the key until the number appear.

Soft Format for Nokia Symbian Series 60 Phones:
The soft-format code for Series 60 phones is *#7370# . You enter this code as you would enter a phone number in the Phone application. It performs a format of the Internal drive – All data will be lost if you use this feature and your set will be like a fresh phone.

Hard-Format for Nokia Symbian Series 60 Phones:
The method of performing a hard-format, i.e resetting it completely to factory defaults and removing all data, is as follows:
Method 1: Use the following code

Method 2: It works in the most of the cases where users has forgotten the security code for Nokia mobile /cell phone.

Switch off the phone.
Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer) button, * button, and ‘3" button
While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone
When the message ‘Formatting’ appears on the screen, release all of the buttons

Soft reset/ Hard Reset deletes all your Contacts/ SMS/ Notes! So beware!
